    Hi guys.

I haven't been active lately because I've been busy with non-IM stuff.
Time is passing by and I must start making some money if I don't want to put myself in a tough position.

Unfortunately, I am a procrastinator, and I don't get stuff done (that is, stuff that don't excite & interest me that much).
I read TAKE ACTION, TAKE ACTION, ACTION IS THE KEY and all of this stuff, all the time. I know that. and it's fucking painful to be a confirmed procrastinator and have to get that.

So yea... and what's the point of this thread?
I am mainly reffering to ex-procrastinators/people's that were stuck because they weren't doing stuff. I am asking for your magic method. How the hell did you overcome your procrastinaton?

We all have different backgrounds and stories to tell and I know that, if you finally took action because you had to pay the rent next week and you had no cash, probably won't work for me, because I don't have rent or bills to pay right now (I am young), but I want to hear your story because I suppose it will be motivating by itself.

What did it for you? A book? Willpower? Pressure? ...?

I hope there will be some responses and this thread will help other folks that are smart and have the resources to make money online but are held back by theirselves.

Stop posting and reading forums :) Limit yourself to just 20 mins a day. Internet marketing is boring after a few months and is hard work often for little reward in the early days. Just accept you're going to have to works your dangly bits off and do it.

Strat now buy a timer and set it for 30 mins. Create some content / backlink / whatever at the end of the 30 mins reward yourself with 5 mins forum posting / reading whatever then set the timer for 30 mins again and repeat until the end of the day.

There is no secret motivational stratagy - Get some self discipline - Work towards a goal you want and just do it. Once you're in the habit of working it gets easier to keep going.

    JUST DO SOMETHING NOW!

It is overwhelming at first when you think about a project. Wake up early in the morning and start working (that way it feels like you have a full day ahead of you). You will notice that as you complete things and check off tasks from your list that you will not feel as overwhelmed. I also find that after a day of good solid work the next day is easy to dive into, but if I take off a day then the next day I will do a lot of procrastinating.

Unfortunately there is no magic method. It's just something you have to make yourself do or nothing will happen.

Wiz gave you about the best suggestion you're going to get for something that might help. Even that will only help if you actually do it though.

Try to identify why youre not moving forward and then plug the gap(s). Is it knowledge, skills, tools, desire etc...

My biggest hurdle has been knowledge so I've had to knuckle down and study - sometimes it means asking the odd stupid question but there are lots of great people in this forum who will always help you.

Always act on the advice given by guys like Wiz - if he tells you to do something - do it!

Don't think of this like a hobby or interest, treat it like a business. Invest - work - grow - reinvest

Wish you all the best - now to work.:D

this is actually a pretty good idea. having a mindset of "just let me look into this real quick" is a great starting point.

    - block all "time wasting" sites through your hosts file
    - use a program like workrave (free, google it) to take scheduled breaks and each time remind yourself why you're working and what's so important about it. You'll come back refocused

The main reason why people procrastinate is fear.

Whether it be scared of failing, afraid of what might or might NOT happen. The fact is that it paralyzes you. It was something that I finally found out and have no problem taking action now.

I think that there's a line put out there to test people. Are you gonna be a pussy or are you going to be a strong man whos going to push through and make things happen.

The greater power out there, universe, God...whatever you think is there I believe wants you to succeed. But fear is put there to weed out the pussies.

I'll agree that fear is a big factor but also money is huge. Like they say, you gotta have it to make it. I see people on here bitching about $5-10 and i think to myself, where the hell are they from. Just give yourself a swift kick in the ass and get motivated lol.

Actually you are somewhat correct. To fully understand a procrastinator you have to literally know what kind of procrastinator you are.

There are 5 types of procrastinators.

    According to this article.
    http://www.stopprocrastinating.net/the-five-main-types-of-procrastination
I am actually an Escapist Procrastinator.

There are five different types of procrastination; there is the relaxed type that does not take responsibility for the work that needs to be done seriously. The intelligent type of procrastinator believes everything comes easy to them so they put off their work until the last minute, the decisional procrastinator wants the work to get done quickly but they have a difficult time making a decision; especially how to begin. There is the procrastinator who is addicted to pleasure who sees the work that needs to be done negatively and would much rather do something else with their time, and finally there is the fearful procrastinator who believes that their capabilities are not good enough to complete the work so they continually put off the work until the last minute.

    The Relaxed Type
The relaxed procrastinator is perpetually lazy when it comes to doing the work that needs to be completed. They continually feel that their work is simple enough to be completed rather quickly so they put it off until the final minutes of their deadlines. They have a tendency to indulge in other activities that they do not view negatively, the work that needs to be done with a relaxed procrastinator is something they do not take seriously so they are always in denial about the seriousness and complexity of the work that they should be doing whether it be in the office or in school.

    The Intelligent Procrastinator Type
The intelligent procrastinator always feel like the work that they should be doing no matter how complex is very simple to understand, and complete. They hold off doing it because they feel it can be completed in a short amount of time. This type of procrastination has a tendency to take shortcuts by deconstructing the work that needs to be done into simpler tasks and forgets the big picture. They feel that they are smart enough to make even the most complex projects much more simplified. Their intelligence makes them become very lazy and their time management skills extremely suspect.

    The Decisional Procrastinator Type
This type of procrastinator is good at recognizing the work that needs to be done, what hinders them is making decisions about the work. They do not directly put the work off consciously, but their troubles with making decisions is putting pressure on them so that the work is started and completed at the last minute. The decisional procrastinator likes to view all the possible solutions or likelihoods for the project at hand before making a decision, they can be considered perfectionists by looking at alternatives and wanting to make the right decision instead of making a decision. This can get them in trouble especially when time becomes a factor in their decision making process.

    The Escapist Procrastinator
The escapist procrastinator is what you would call a day dreamer, and have a tendency to only see the big picture in the near or far off future and forget about the steps or the work that needs to be done to accomplish their dreams of success. The escapist procrastinator is also addicted to pleasure much like the relaxed type. Unlike the relaxed type though they tend to not view work as negatively. The escapist procrastinator spends too much time inside their own head thinking of grandiose schemes, and forgets about work and views the work that needs to be done as more of a roadblock then a crucial step in accomplishing what they want.

    The Afraid Type of Procrastinator
This type of procrastination is worse in stressful situations because they are unsure about their ability to complete the work. They feel that they work better if they relax first because they put themselves under a lot of stress. The time they spend unwinding should be better spent completing their work because when time becomes a factor they put themselves under much more stress and the work is never completed to their satisfaction.
A procrastinator?s worst enemy is themselves, they use excuses more often and put themselves under more stress than they need to. Most of the time procrastinators are a combination of different types whether it?s the escapist procrastinator who also considers themselves to be extremely intelligent, or it is the decisional procrastinator who feel that they should relax and unwind before making a decision. Once you determine the type of procrastination you suffer from; whether it?s one kind or a little bit of each type. It is easier to overcome procrastination, just do not put it off until it is too late.

Action machine and 'get things done' by david allen - both of these helped me organize stuff and my life so much better now.

But the main motivator is the high I get when I see $$$ rolling in paypal. wants to be to work even more harder and take action !!

Dude, you just infused life to a thread which had died 2 years back.
In regards to his comment, I think he completely made sense. Please go through his comment once again and start researching about procrastination. I am sure this will help in removing the clot in your brain.

    Cheers :)
