Oh God, I just logged into BHW again for the first time in many years and found my old journey thread:
https://www.blackhaMy journey to 20$ per day (Movie site)tworld.com/seo/my-journey-to-20-per-day-movie-site.718074/

Unfortunately, the thread is now closed and I can no longer reply to it. Back then my goal was to earn $20 a day. I thought I’d give a short update on what’s happened over the past few years.

I spent a lot of time in affiliate marketing and had several niche websites. The best niche site was about hoverboards during the hype phase back then. On Google Germany I ranked #1 for the keyword ‘Hoverboard’. In my best month I earned €10,000 and even received offers to sell my website for €50,000 — which I didn’t accept. However, affiliate sites became a bit boring for me, and I didn’t feel like constantly writing new content. I hated it, and bought texts didn't rank as well as my own texts.

I still remember a coworker talking to me on the bus and asking how Amazon affiliate marketing was going. He then said he’d like to import products from China and sell them on eBay. At the time I told him that sounded far too risky and expensive. With affiliate marketing you have virtually no risk and much less work and costs. By chance, in 2016 I stumbled upon a YouTube video about Amazon FBA. In short, you order products from China, put your brand on them, and sell them. The products are sent directly to Amazon, and Amazon handles the shipping. It was explained as if all you had to do was reorder products and Amazon would take care of the rest.

However, I didn’t want to order products from China because China had a bad reputation when it came to quality. So I started thinking about what else we could do. At the time, I had an affiliate website for hair growth products and promoted dietary supplements as an affiliate. I noticed how much money people were willing to spend on a few vitamins.

So I contacted manufacturers of dietary supplements and informed myself about the legal requirements. I approached my coworker, and he was interested in selling dietary supplements with me. Together we invested €4,000 for 500 bottles of hair vitamins and built an online shop. When the products were delivered, I thought, ‘Oh God, how are we supposed to sell so many bottles?’ So I immersed myself deeply in marketing, learned how to build online shops, and how to optimize conversions.

Two days after launch, the first order came in. You can’t imagine how happy I was. Especially since that customer ordered five bottles right away. Unfortunately, the customer never paid for the order. But shortly afterward, the next order came in — and then more and more followed. From that moment on, we knew it worked.

After about two months, the first 500 bottles were sold out. So we ordered 1,000 bottles. These were sold out again after about a month. Then we ordered 2,000 bottles and launched on Amazon at the end of 2017.

Right from the start, things went well on Amazon. Back then there wasn’t much competition yet, and we had one of the best-selling hair vitamin products. I don’t want to go into too much detail. Amazon FBA and e-commerce are a lot more work than that YouTube video promised. But since 2017, our revenue has grown every single year. Today we’re at an annual revenue of €5,000,000 ($5,807,750). We have no employees and only work with a few agencies and one freelancer. I would never have thought that possible — especially when I now see that in 2014 my goal was to earn $20 a month.

I just thought I’d give a ‘short’ update and show how quickly things can move forward if you keep trying. In retrospect, it’s really crazy. It also shows that you should try many things, but then stick with one and keep going. In the past, I jumped from method to method. Today, I stick with one method and continuously perfect it.

Here is a screenshot from Amazon last year (2025). The other 800k we made on our shopify store and other marketplaces.
