Fresh, Original Regular Content Made No Difference, Still no visitors!

I have a number of blogs built up over the years that I only recently started having original fresh content posted there almost daily. It has been about a month and I don't notice hardly any difference in my stats. Should I be waiting longer for results? Everyone has always said fresh content is what google loves but I'm not seeing that at all. I do believe it is true but it looks like I also need to be doing linking etc to get it rolling.

So I have read a number of threads here and have some ideas to generate some traffic but all that will take time.

So my question is, the results will pick up a lot more once I get inbound links? I always thought that if you provided fresh regular original content your pages would rank well and the traffic would just come anyway!

It also depends how often your blog is read by Google, and of what quality the content is and the niche.

FAIL. Content without PROMOTION = lost in eternity. Don't rely on Google to do YOUR job.

Bro, you could have the best original content in the whole wide world, but it won't matter if you do no link building.

I put 100 original articles on one site, it got 10 searches a day in traffic.. Horrible. Then I started backling and you know what it's growing and growing.. Just having content alone won't rank you, period. You HAVE to have backlinks.. The whole notion of adding content and ranking and getting traffic is a myth, it doesn't work like that. YOU have to promote it, or build links to support it.

There's a number of reasons why you may not be getting traffic
- you did not do link building
- on site seo was not good
- you didnt focus on keyword research

these are the top reasons why 99% of the sites fail.

Sad but true.

I post original content, use social bookmarking and ping the post using services like bulk ping, and then exchange tweets (400 - 500 tweets advertising my original url). I start getting instant visitors after that. Usually people start coming within minutes!

This works once you've reached a point where the website has a number of power/natural/etc backlinks. The simplest and easiest way to make Google find out about your website is to submit it on a few WEB directories. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book, which still works when starting fresh. From there on, you have to add a bunch of ping networks in WP, create a couple of social profiles and work your way up.

Hey g0g0l, thanks for those tips they have got me started. I have been out of the SEO game for so long that I'm only realizing I need to do a lot more not like the old days when you would just submit your main url to yahoo, google or whatever and they would suddenly send bulk traffic and with maybe a directory submission but even that was not needed back then.
I submitted a few of my sites rss feeds to bulk ping for a start but I will do it slowly, just a few sites a day at the start. Then once I have done each rss feed I will then submit each post and page from the wp sites as I think that is needed from what I read.

Also,what is the best way to do the twitter thing, should I use exchangetweets or another service?

Also, what is the best tool to get all the pages and posts from a wordpress site? Maybe the xml sitemap? Then just ping a few of those a day...

I am glad it worked. This is pretty basic and most of the members here do it. For tweets i use addmefast. I am a fan of their service

Well if you have XML sitemap plugin enabled, you can fetch your pages, posts, categories and tag pages pretty fast. If not, then the rss feed might help!

You said it was a blog, assuming it's wordpress based? What plugins do you have? Have you a sitemap for google to easily crawl you? Also, it may be obvious but some people do miss it... make sure you are not hidden from search engines.

Ensure you ping each post.

And it wouldn't hurt to add a few backlinks a couple of days after the post.

Hey oldweb, are you adding fresh, original content to the old blogs that are full of non-original content? If so, those blogs may have already been hit by Panda. In that case, you'd be better off just taking your original content and moving it to new domains. If your blogs have been hit by Panda you're not going to rank well, even with backlinks.

Fresh Content + No Linkbuilding X 12 months = Crap Content + Linkbuilding X 3 months.

If you want go slowly and are able to write > 300 article per site with a good onpage seo.

Ok I will check out addmefast g0g0l and yeah I have sitemap plugs in wordpress, in fact I don't use the plugins anymore but I use Yoast and the sitemap feature within that as it gives me options to disable attachments etc.

As above, yes they are wordpress sites or blogs or whatever you like to call them. I have the sitemaps and I don't have them hidden from the search engines as I know where that feature is in WP (and the new 3.5 change) , I did once accidentally turned that on for a site and I was shocked to find it one day

well some of them but only some of them did have some content that was questionable but I took it all down. I never had any traffic anyway so I have no idea if they were hit by Panda or not, I don't think Google even considered my sites for Panda as there was nothing to unrank lol. OK, some of them do get a little traffic but it's not much, some others get hardly anything even after adding fresh content. I guess I need to work on the pinging, backlinking, social networking etc more and see if they pick up, if not then sadly I might have to pull them down. I do have twitter and facebook fan pages for each one with each post sent to them via rss but the fan pages don't have enough likes yet for that to work. That is another thing I must do, get some bulk likes etc....

My websites have been setup pretty good NOW after I went through them all and did SEO on them, I installed Yoast on most of them and some others for a mix. Each post or page has the title made and I check the keyword for the post with Yoast. I don't bother with meta description though and it's very time consuming and from what I understood it's not really important but maybe I'm wrong there?

I think my biggest problem has just been that I have had very few links coming in. I do get out on blogs and forums occasionally and comment but usually all I'm allowed is a link to my twitter or facebook page and probably most of the comments never get published anyway. When you have a lot of websites then this is very tedious so I have to start outsourcing this in the future.

Also, I recently changed most of the themes or cleaned them up and got rid of any links back to the theme maker and their spam links in the footer etc. I'm also going to be using some of the premium themes I have downloaed from here lately too.

I think this is going to take some time and effort but I think I'm making progress, I just hope I see results soon...
