I want to improve the rankings of a French website.
How do I do that? Hire a french copywriter and do the same as for English kw's?
Any tips? Who has done this before?

I built links to my french site(edgematch's method) using English articles on GSA , site is still ranking for 2-3 weeks . But if its your long termsite you should use french content to rank a french site .

Fundamental is increased traffic.Copywriter is ok.Add some off site SEO.

Do you want to rank local? Go for citations, reviews and rest remains the same. Get links from french content.

@maildigger it depends on how serious you are but I have a few french site (about 15-20) part of a private blog network. If you're interested and depending on what your site is about, I could sell you backlinks. Your site's topic would need to be related to what I already have. If you're interested, you can PM me.

You must focus on content, posts on french forums with your website link and use social media for specific targeted traffic.

All you do is replace all your content with French stuff. I would suggest getting a French writer, and have him/her to write tons of article. Then get some French based web 2.0's blasted out. Just like any SEO.

Just like you would do for other languages, especially English. Good quality content and good backlinks with relevant anchors from related, same language sites.
