Freelancing - How to start

Hello, i studied software engineering and have been working 3 years for a company (Since i finished college) using mostly java for backend and a little of js for frontend. I am no expert at any of those languages but i have a medium knowledge and also know the basics of pyhton and created a couple webpages with wordpress using elementor.
So my question is how can i start freelancing? Where can i get clients? Because of fiverr, upwork etc seems too hard to start from 0 since there are a lot of people from third world countries that do the job for peanuts since their currency is devaluated compared to Europe and USA (I'm from Europe).
Also anyone in this sector know how can i improve my skills in this languages or where to learn more programming oriented to doing valuable projects that maybe i can sell?

You can come up with solutions and present them to people. First you have to find the problems. What are people looking for?
 
Okay, so I am always asking the same things about what to learn and all but here is what I got so far:
Go to upwork (forget FIverr or People per Hour or something, just forget them) and look through jobs for your expertise. Save searches with keywords of things you can do (java, backend(look for your frameworks)) and so on, and just keep applying to jobs until you get one. It's really difficult at first, because on upwork no one wants to hire you if you have no success score, but if you explain you're new on the platform but you have the expertise and the background, someone ought to give you a shot one day.

Best thing is to get two friends to sign up with a client account and hire you so you get a fake start and then just take it from there.

You can also go on Linkedin and create an outreach program targeting start ups and small businesses, explaining what you do and maybe you get a job that way.

I really dont know tbh do you have any insights? The most I see is people asking for python bots to automate tasks but seems like already a lot of people do that and i have no experience in that
 
I recommend checking out this [Free Guide] by @BlogPro - it’s super helpful for getting started with freelancing, not just VA services.

I'm sure you’ll pick up something valuable to kick things off.

Okay I will start doing that thank you very much. In linkedin i have a decent account with 700+ connections, but never used it to get that kind of jobs, any idea on how to look for that businesses that require such services?

The main thing is to keep trying, send CVs all the time, some of them will work and you will be invited for an interview. You can start with Upwork, buy some connects and apply for jobs. You can also purchase a few reviews for start to build up your profile. I've encountered people on this forum that sell.

But overall, being persistent is what pays off. Freelancing is basically a lifestyle, you work 24/7. There are no weekends for a successful freelancer or any entrepreneur who wants to make a business and make money in the long run.

Yes but i also have to continue with my 9-5 job until i can live properly out of freelancing and thats the hard part i think. Thanks for your response!

I wouldn't say that. I am freelancing since 3 years and I am taking time off all the time. Just need to manage your deadlines. I also don't work sundays any more unless I feel like it.

Just told you. Look for small businesses and start ups and then message them offering your services.

Yes but any orientation on how to identify those small businesses that may need services that i can provide? Any filter/search tip to use?
 
A little tip from me personally: fake it until you make it. Sometimes you need to enhance some things if you know what I mean

That's like saying you want to flip cars and maybe become an insurance salesman

For programming, IF you have a degree and can get on with a large corporation you can succeed,
however with AI coding coming online soon you are competing with the bots.

If you want to be in Information Technologies my advice to you, being in the Eu, is go into computer
security. Take as many courses as you can at Cybrary.IT in the free tier. Then if you like it join the PRO
tier, take more courses and get some type of certification. Maybe CISSP. Then take 2 or 3 courses
on the Prince2 Project Manager certification and get PRACTITIONER certified. This will tell any
hiring manager that you have a brain and that you are serious about your career. Prince2 is what
is used in Europe for project management.

For internet careers forget making websites for other people.

Make websites for YOUR OWN business and build them up. Then suck up the money or sell the sites

Go to the downloads section - look for the courses in Mega dumps - download them and do them

Go to WSODownloads.IN - Join them and download courses - Agency, Authority, Drop Shipping, Keyword Research, Amazon, Affiliates, SEO, POD, Funnels,etc

You should also join Festingers vault lifetime (to get wordpress plugins and templates) when he comes back online AND become a Shopify developer, find some shopify templates, create a few test stores
and get practice with ecommerce

Some people do nothing but build Shopify Stores and sell them.

The key ALWAYS is to do what other people are too lazy to do.

That means when you get a site built and it has a good BRAND and Domain for the brand,
trademark the brand and get it recognized by Amazon

Wow you really put effort replying thank you very much. I will start doing the free courses os Cybrary.IT to see what is that about, also i will download courses from here and WSODownloads but here i have some concern because I already tried some with no results and there are many so its difficult to focus on just one and not fall in the temptation with trying other (shiny object syndrome)
About the shopify store development, i created one shopify store many years ago with no success and i dont know where to get customers to sell that. I bought recently a website flipping course that i will have to take in the few days/weeks.
So much stuff here, hard to know where to start but again thank you so much for your response you have been really helpful. Also you gave very precise tips so if you don't mind me asking, are you in any business of this kind?
