I'm on Freelancer but no on oDesk. If you ask me, Freelancer is a money thirsty company. It's very hard for you to get any projects there if you don't keep feeding them money.

What about oDesk? Is it worth trying? Or any other you guys recommend?

Have you thought of People Per Hour?

Far better quality suppliers than Freelancer and people can command better prices.

With the rush of people in Freelancer, it is seriously tough to get any projects. Forums, and my previous clients bring me more clients.

Personally I prefer to hire on eLance more than anywhere else.

When I have a graphic design project, I'll almost always post it on freelancer though, because I always get two to three times as many bids on my graphic design projects on freelancer than I do on eLance.

When I have a "programming" job of almost any kind, I always put it on elance because I get far better & more qualified candidates on elance for those types of jobs.

As I said, I prefer elance overall, but freelancer does have it's purposes for me anyway.

Sorry OP, I know you were looking for an answer to this question more from a freelancers point of view than a clients point of view, but I figured I'd throw my hat in the ring and give you my opinion from my perspective anyway...maybe it'll help.

(P.S. - I hate oDesk)

Elance.

And regarding Freelancer, you must be crazy to be there, that site is a total scam

Totally agreed. They want you to keep upgrading your membership then paying to highlight your bid then paying to move your bid up and what not.

oDesk is by far the best for me so far, but it does have some sort of "learning curve". You need to be able to develop your own system for filtering and testing for good candidates.

Odesk is one of the best site for freelancer. You can get a very good service from it.

Elance is cool, just got a lot of competition from India my friend.

Any specific reason why you hate oDesk?

According to me freelancer is best and cheap
odesk is some what expensive and quality.

so its better you to fix in your mind what do you need exactly.

Elance for quality.
oDesk is also good.
FreeLancer doesn't worth.

I like to get projects on elance and guru. guru is also great freelancing website.

This is a big +1 for Elance OP
I would not recommend Freelancer. In my opinion that site has only went downhill more.

Cheers,
Unclemike

Elance is the best out there if you are an experienced guy, job hunters able to see who they are working without even clicking on your profile. Odesk pretty much hides all the information, it's sort of the lottery out there. There are tons of bidding websites, but I wouldn't recommend freelancer at all.

If you're not careful, they will change the subscription plan without asking for it and without warning just to take you all your money. I switched to SEOClerks, so far best results + enjoying their lifetime affiliate program.
