free ways to promote my site?

Im looking for some free ways to promote my e-commerce site, I believe that if people went on it they would buy as the prices are good. I was thinking of printing out lots of posters and flyers and sticking them around where i live and posting them through peoples letter boxes. is there anything else i can do to promote my site for free?

It would depend on what you are trying to sell.
Simply saying it's an "e-commerce" site doesn't really give us much information.

Build a strong social profiles on all the major social sites. Actually even that is not free as you will be required to spend some time to do so.

If the product is local as you say you will make flyers, that is a great idea, also join your city fb groups

My advice would be to avoid free sites. All are hard spammed. Do some good content and some good inside site architecture and you will get good results.

Well one way to get traffic for free is to invest time into keyword optimized content. Content is king and will provide you with lifetime traffic as long as you have the domain and don't delete the content. You can write 2-5 articles a day and get allot of visitors in no time. Also provide guest posts on that blog versus banners for your shop and you will be able to drive traffic through that promotion as well as the search engine hits you are going to get on the blog.
