Free Tools for Keyword Competition?

I know there are some really good paid tools for analyzing keyword competition but I can't seem to find any good free ones.

All the free keyword competition tools I find use irrelevant metrics and seem to be pretty inaccurate. IMO if a tool doesn't analyze the the URLs on the first page of Google for a keyword then it's not a good indicator for how hard a keyword is to rank for.

That said, anyone know of any good free tools for calculating keyword competitiveness?

There is just one and very good choice for you. Simple try Google keyword research tool. I am sure every body suggest you about this...

I use Google keyword research tool to find some nice keywords that I like and within the search crititeria I have choosen. I then take those keywords into Traffic Travis 4 PRO, and check out competiton etc. You can do this with the free version of TT also.
