Hey BHW Members,

If you've ever been stuck on the free / basic plan of Ahrefs and struggled with exporting keyword data, this extension might just be what you're looking for.

What Does It Do?

This custom Chrome extension allows you to scrape and export keyword data from Ahrefs' keyword research tool, even if you're limited to the free plan. While Ahrefs doesn't officially allow exports on free accounts, this tool bypasses that limitation by extracting visible table data from the browser into a downloadable CSV file.

⚠️ Note: This tool relies on data that is visible in your browser. The output may not always be perfect due to Ahrefs' dynamic content structure or formatting quirks. Use it as a supplementary tool rather than a replacement for paid features.

Features

  1. Scrape keyword data from visible Ahrefs tables.
  2. Automatic pagination to gather data across multiple pages.
  3. Custom filtering to remove unwanted rows or columns.
  4. Export the scraped data as a CSV file, ready to use for further analysis.

How to Use the Tool

  1. Install the Extension
    • Download and load the extension into Chrome via Developer Mode.
    • Unzip the folder and load it as an unpacked extension from chrome://extensions.
  2. Navigate to Ahrefs
    • Log into your Ahrefs account and navigate to any keyword research tool.
    • Ensure the table data you want to scrape is visible.
  3. Click Scrape
    • Click the extension icon and hit the Scrape button.
    • The tool will extract keyword data row by row. If there's a "Next" button for pagination, the tool will continue until all pages are scraped.
  4. Download Your Data
    • Once scraping is complete, click the Download button to save the data as a CSV file.

Notes & Limitations

  • Partial Matches: The tool looks for visible table headers like "Keyword" to map rows. If headers or table structures change, it may require adjustments.
  • Dynamic Content: Some data may not load immediately, so make sure the page has fully loaded before starting the scrape.
  • Excluded Content: Rows with irrelevant or blank data are skipped automatically to keep the output clean.

Why Use This Tool?

If you're testing keyword ideas, conducting initial research, or running a lean SEO operation without a full Ahrefs subscription, this extension can save you hours. While it’s not a substitute for the full functionality of a paid account, it can help you get the basics done when you're working on a budget.

If you try it out, let me know how it works for you! I'm open to feedback and suggestions to improve the tool.

Happy scraping and SEOing!
