    Can you share a link how it looks in your website? One important thing about the certificates is the payment & verifications (because it filters non-business from scams)

    StartSSL is "at least something", but those certificates are not recognized by all web browsers, so people can still get the "This connection is untrusted" message now and then. Comodo offers cheap certificates starting at $7/year that are recognized by almost all browsers. I'd only use StartSSL for testing, as on a live site it would cause more questions than any good from your customers.

    Shitty SSLs will get a warning of "untrusted" from Firefox and Chrome. Do it right or dont do it at all.

    Agreeing with Duffers here, makes me wanna back out of every purchase or such if my Firefox says the connection's not trusted. So at least don't use this on your money site.
