In the past you could create a free shopify store for developers. This is still working? I also wanted to ask if using this free service worsens the speed of the web or has any cons

You mean that no one can purchase things?
I've used it in the past but recently I got away from Shopify Partner.

I built a site using Shopify Partner a few months ago and it was working. You still obviously have to pay once you want to go live.

Nope, you can make the store, but can't pit payment method..

you can already setup a partner account and you can build out stores and then sell them. That is what i do. Build up a little traffic and then post for sell.
