For a very advanced level of designing I think Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop top the list. But these softwares take sometime to learn. Other beginner friendly softwares include GIMP, Canva and inkscape to name a few. Canva is relatively easy among all and has some very good features as well.
 
Like everyone else, I also use Canva. I find it simple and easier to use than other software that are available.

Canva IS free but with a paid option, Usually the free version does more than needed.
You can actually grab a year subscription for cheap from a seller on the forum, check the Misc section of the forum.
 
Inkscape. It's an open source vector graphics software. It doesn't come with talent though.
 
It's Ucraft free logo maker. It's actually free: it has numerous icons, shapes, texts and colors - in one word, it has everything you need to design a cool logo!
 
If you want something unique, don't be lazy and take a day to study Adobe Illustrator via YouTube. Or Photoshop. It's actually easy when you're following "how to create a logo in x" tutorials. You eventually learn how to put together your own.

If you don't feel like doing so, go for "canvas".
