BEWARE AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION

on using the 2ip for free hosting with the dear ole' hostagator.
I just learned the hard way. I read all this stuff and went to sign up for an account. I double checked with a representative and gave him the coupon prior to hitting the submit button. He advised me no charges would be placed until "next year" or 9-3-2010. I asked him again, and was told same thing. Thus, I hit the submit order button.
Guess what! Yeparoo!

I was immediately billed and there came over 179 dollars right out of my account.
So, I phone them. Explained what happened, and asked why the charge. The phone representative stated that code had been "googled" all over the internet and was suppose to be for "reserve" customers. Being those who were transferring to them from another outfit.
Needless to say, he was not gonna honor a refund and then rebill me next year as coupon stated, along with their other representative.
He then proceeded to ask if I had purchased the domain as I would not get $20.00 back on that...LOL do they ever have a racket going on
I canceled within 30 minutes. I do feel certain I will get a full refund from them but highly peeoooed that my money is tied up for 6 to 10 days waiting on this process.
Now, note this...if I had bought the domain name through them, I would lose 20 bucks on the refund. Thank goodness I was using a domain I already own, so won't lose that. Yet, I wonder how many other people have lost that "high" domain charge using this code!
So folks, be very careful...from what I gather with the representative, host2@@gator has "caught on". Why they are not fixing their billing to advise people, and why they are still accepting that coupon is beyond me. I do suspect it is due to the tremendous amount of domains they are selling with this coupon.
As their representative stated, that coupon has been "googled" everywhere which is great for their business. Yet, as I asked him, why have you all simply not made it where it cannot be accepted in your billing, and then proceed to immediately charge folks?
I will let you be the judge on that...seems they have a "hot" thing going...selling lots of domains even with refunds being given back!
So, if you are going to use that code, I would strongly advise you call them...do not use their online signup process for you will be charged immediately after placing the order even with that little *you will be charged in xx/xx/2010.
I am done with host@gator due to this BS from them
Can anyone recommend someone
