yesterday, an internal coupon code that was intended for use by customers of a company that hostgator is in the process of buying was leaked to the internet. More than a thousand customers took advantage of the deal, which offered $180 off any new order, and we're happy to see that you did as well.


We did want to inform you, however, that the coupon code was only valid for up to one year of hosting and not for a free domain name. We noticed that you signed up for more than one year of hosting and a domain, and as a result, we have modified your package to expire in one year instead of three, and billed $15 (yearly charge charge for domain registration) to your account.

If you wish to register the domain, please login to your billing at https://secure.hostgator.com/billing, and make a payment for the $15 invoice, and reply back once to let us know you have done so, and we can register your domain for you and get you up-and-running.

The renewal date for your hosting order is now for one year from today. So, in essence we're giving you a free year of hostgator web hosting. If you wish to renew your hosting beyond one year, you can do so at the normal rate before the package expires, one year from today. If you wish to keep your one year of free hosting and do nothing else, no further action is necessary.

I just had a chat with live support. Asking them if I could still get the 1year free hosting since I was so noob I chose 1month, didn't realize there was a drop down lol.
They'll email me with the updates. But said the coupon was valid for hatchling account only though.
 
Well I tried this now and its now working, They are billing Hatching 1 year $83.40.
 
I just signed up and got 2 accounts using the paypal as payment preferred and they will not bill you for 1 year for the hosting but if you wish for a new domain now they will bill you $15
Its best to sign up for baby or hatchling accounts and click a year hosting.
 
Friend of mine talked with support and they said that coupon was disabled due to abuse :) Now there sie "autumn" code for -20%. Good to see that some of you have hosting :) Congrats :) EOT I think

two days have passed and i m still safe...hope they wont do anything wrong now.
 
I am clicking on my link to cpanel through my email.

It is not working anymore. I added a domain to it earlier today.

Any help? I don't know what I did wrong or where to log in!

I doubt that they will do anything. They seemed to have honored ALL the accts that were actually processed with that coupon code before they cut it off. I give them credit for that! ;)

But I bet they (HG) won't do it that way ever again, tho. heh heh

Doubt you did anything wrong. They're probably still catching up. I had the same thing happen on Monday morning. I went to their support "live chat" on their site and they took care of it. You could also call them or put help desk ticket thru.

Since you got a welcome email that means that you were processed so try what I mentioned above. ;)
