Free .Edu Link

Everyone knows .edu links are ace and while I normally don't like giving them out - they're gold after all - I'm feeling strangely generous today and I've no idea why.

All you need to do is

1. Register
2. Write a blog post with your link
3. Submit. Done. Instant .edu link

I'm sure there are other ways to drop links as well, perhaps in your profile, but this is a nice quick easy method.

I would say - in order to give everyone a chance to get a .edu link - don't abuse this site with your links, but that won't make a difference will it

.edu links have always been the easy ones for me

Its the .gov ones that really cause a headache

.edu are also pretty useless unless they have some PR

It's difficult to set up a .gov blog however sometimes it's possible to find forums which are open to join and leave a link in the signature.

Seobook had an interesting point on how cars.gov was bought just a few weeks ago and already ranks #3 for cars http://www.seobook.com/cars-gov showing just how much trust google puts in a .gov link

Quick question.. I have a travel blog site which I'm trying to build up - not so much for money (haven't even hit the $100 adsense mark yet!)

Now, do comments on .edu and .gov blogs have any worth according to G?

I've searched for "" blog inurl:"register" site:.gov "" on Google and there's a few sites that allow you to register - is it worth it?!

hi Beathead, maybe target your blog commenting a little bit i.e. search for travel related articles on a .edu site and it should improve things.

A lot of the sites will be nofollow for blog comments however, after the following comment from Matt Cutts I'm inclined to believe a nofollow link from an edu/gov still hold some value. I wouldn't overdo it though, just gradually comment on a few relevant pages and it should be worth it.

Stephan Spencer: OK. So, I guess, a follow on to that would be: a .edu and .gov link, and so forth, has, typically, a more pristine link neighborhood, so it is not just about the PageRank, right? The link neighborhood comes into play.

I also have the same problem. .gov links just suck..

.edu are far easy and are result oriented (depending on the PR)

I still have to master the .gov backlinking.

Another post on here inspired me to do this google search;

blog inurl:"register" site:.gov

and also;

blog inurl:"register" site:.edu

It appears you join a few worthwhile sites! No PR5+ though

Just when I thought I was getting to know some of the niches on Google! I've never seen this mentioned anywhere, white or black hat.

Thanks a lot for this. I just went to the URL and checked for "powered by phpBB" and got about 200 results.

Next I'll try (forum copyright) + (niche keyword) = worthwhile backlinks.
