Hi, I just sarted my first website registering a free domain at freenom, and getting also free hosting.
I'm having some issues, I think it's due to the free hosting, but I can't complain since everything is free. I'm just doing this to get experience building a website.

What exact issues are you facing?
 
I recommend buying a real domain name since they are almost free anyway. Namecheap has them for $1.06 , 1and1 for $0.99. They aren't .com's but at least they won't be deleted for no reason, as it will happen with freenom's.
 
If you have a .edu email then I think namecheap teamed up with github to give free .me domain with free $50 digital ocean credit

Great way to start and make money.

Uptime is not great, I have to try to install plugins many times because they fail to update/install. Again, I think the reason is the free hosting, not the free domain.
Anyway if you plan to get a free domain at freenom, read the term of service. They can take your domain away out of the blue for no reason!
 
There are several registrars who run 99c promotions on .info and other less popular TLDs.
 
Check godaddy and use coupon code cjc99com its $0.99 for the first year.. Better than using free non TLD domains you get on freenom
