Like everyone else, I love free so my question is: is there a free directory mass submitter around? (for getting Google Places citations). I have looked, but not found anything. Rep for good answers and thanks for your time

A paid license is really worth the money. Submit unlimited sites to lots of directories. Also, you can add your own web directory.
