Free calls to USA / Canada

Google / Gmail calling had been free since August 2010 and I believe the offer will end Jan, 1st 2010.

Is this true and if yes, do we have any other option to call free to US / Canada after that?

Honestly it had been a blessing for people living outside USA to call loved ones free of cost.

Give me your recommendations and suggestions please

There are several test services which give you afew minutes to call.
I guess that would be nice for urgunt issues or a short "how's everything" daily chat. each of below has different free plans so check which one suits you better:

If you want to be on the safe side there's the monthly subscription to skype... You can even choose a specific country: it's not free but doesn't really cost much...

I use magicjack its great and cheap about $20/year for unlimited calls to US and canada.

My bad .. its confusing hahaha .. some one sent me a XMAS offer saying Buy it now or sale ends in 2010 ought to be 2011

Magic jack .. do they have any limit on usage of minutes like mostly people advertise Unlimited but they do have abusive policy of lets say 5k minutes a month ?
