Free backlink checker Advice

I normally use to use AHREF to check backlinks for free but all i see on ALL domains now is the SEO links site get for spammy purposes. I still dont understand the game played where SEO brands run a crawler and backlink on scale to new sites or random site advertising their services...Looks like spam

Just curious what yall use?

I really dont have a valid reason to pay for a 3rd party tool at the moment. It would be a waste of money, though if i had one would use the h#$@ out of it.

so you're poor! SEO is NOT for you then.... don't worry, it's not for me either because I'm also poor, but I felt like mentioning it

In honesty though, without at least some $100-ish per month (at minimum) I don't see how you can do SEO as this has become a rich man's game, so you might want to reconsider your life choices...

This being said, I remember there were some people selling premium accounts for MOZ / Ahrefs / Semrush for way cheaper, have a look in the marketplace and see if they still offer them, I remember a few years ago that I got a Semrush account that normally cost $99 if memory serves me well (or was it $109? or $119? I don't remember) for $15. But I'm not sure that such offers still exist, but if you have time look around these forums:

If you're not ready to pay for a tool right now, maybe try free alternatives like Ubersuggest or even check out Google Search Console to monitor your backlinks. They won’t be as in-depth as AHREFS, but they'll give you some valuable insights without the cost.

I signed up for trial of ubersuggest. My only question is how much different is the backlinks lookup. I dont ever need a indepth look up of a website like I work for a SEO agency. I need to be able to see the backlinks and RDs on a domain for the most part. Knowing that much gets me very far.

Yeah, for quick backlink and RD checks, Ubersuggest should be enough. Not as deep as Ahrefs, but it gets the basics right for most use cases.

Yeah, it’s wild how much spam shows up now—tons of SEO tools just dumping links everywhere. I’m in the same boat, not ready to drop cash on premium tools yet. Been using free tools like Ubersuggest or checking GSC for basics. Not perfect, but they do the job for now.

I don’t really use paid tools at the moment, so I stick to free audits or just do a limited Ahrefs check when I need to. Honestly, unless you're deep into SEO work, I don’t see the point in paying for those tools right now.
