Like many of you, I'm super inspired by Franklin Hatchett, Sythix, and avi619. This thread will document the testing I undergo in order to make this profitable.

Have a shopify store with 4 products, one of which is my coupon product. It's priced at $24.99, and with the coupon it's 99c. Shipping is set to $9.95.

On day one of 5 fb ads. $5/day each.

So far.. It's not working. This is my first go at fb ads, and something definitely isn't going right. I've spent $11 and reached 2300 people, but my site only has 12 unique visitors. This makes it seem like the creative on my ad is all wrong.. or maybe my targeting. Kind of feeling that I should pause the campaign, but maybe I don't have enough data to make constructive changes yet.

    Anyone have ideas?

You need to split test your ads to find out which ad works best and delete the poor performing ones.

Yes my friend, I am going to be doing so using this template: http://prntscr.com/8yepc1

Right now, all ads are using the same creative, just different demographics. As of now though, I have no data from fb. I'm set to track conversions and so far there are none.

Well before anything i don't see how someone can succeed with 5$ a day whilst doing media buying. I mean media buying it's not for peoples which never made money online or don't have few grands to spend. I suggest you to get free traffic from facebook groups mass posting. You'll understand about angles, pictures, lead ins, sale text, emails etc and for a small price (100-200$) and bringing in money for sure.
When you have a decent flow of cash, go back to media buying. Not trying to be rude, just saying that my first campaigns, each offer had 100+ different "ads" and few were profitable. Same thing today 1 year after. I suggest you again to invest your time in something that has sense. Because that way you're only wasting time with 5$/day. Even 50$ a day would be asking to be lucky. But well that's just my opinion based on experience and friends experience.

Thanks for your opinion. I hear where you're coming from. I am currently in the process of warming up 10 fb accounts for exactly that reason. This is a project I'm hoping to run in the meantime.. Spending $25/day.

I'll follow you closely. Although I see few major mistakes here.

I recently read about FH's method and I am testing it now myself so I don't have previous experience with it. However, I do have previous experience with ecommerce and FB/PPC advertising.

Let me tell you this -
    1) If you were one of the visitors of your site, would you actually buy from yourself? I would not buy from you just for the sake your homepage looks strange. There's just only one product listed. I'd try to make it look more professional. Add more products etc. Look at your competition in Google.
    2) I would not start with conversion based ads. Facebook doesn't have much data from the beginning of your campaign so your ad spent will be bigger than if you started with website clicks. I'd start with website clicks, test anywhere between 10-30 ads and then choose few winner ads which have lowest CPC and highest CTR. Copy these little winners and turn them into conversion based ads. You'll have much better results this way.
    3) Don't forget to find laser targeted interests. Broad audiences will give you nothing but high CPC. Read this and this thread from user called filmosophist. You'll find out how to find hidden interests Facebook usually doesn't show. I was able to lower my CPC from $2 to $0.05 using his method. Nowadays I use tool called Insight Hero which is great for finding hidden interests. However its price is $67. (I'm not affiliated. I just found it at Franklin Hattchet's blog.)

P.S. Remove your niche/website from OP as in the case your journey is successful you'll get huge competition.

Just my personal opinion! Have a great day and wish you success of course! :)

leaving a comment so I can this find this thread again. Everytime come onto BHW I see something like this, and I'm always glad I came on when I did.

Am still researching How To facebook ads and this method, coming up with a few ways to connect everything and taking my time to understand what's actually happening. About to jump in too, good luck

Yeah, before starting to promote your site, finish it first.
The design looks empty. Make a logo, create a facebook page, etc.
Also, start your campaigns when the weekend starts, you'll get more visitors that way.

    Good luck!

I had some desatrous ads, but I found one that is going at 0.10$ CPC and the other one at 0.12$, so I'm trying to get orders from there.

Actually money can be made off $5 a day. Once advert optimisation is finished and winners are chosen then it's very possible. I've seen a guy get 0.04 conversion rate out of an optimised advert and he let it sit at like $3 a day and made profits. All though that conversion rate is mental things like that can be achieved.

As for your adverts op you seem to be doing everything right. Are you getting clicks to website? The next thing would be to look at the niche. It needs to be something people are really passionate about. For example the LED dog collar someone did recently was a good one. If you aren't really getting clicks to website then give the niche another look at or product. If you are getting cliks to wensite then no sales maybe look and working on the site etc.

My gf had about 6 products in her store. 3 of them at her $0.01 price then had 3 at around $12 incase people purchased them as well.

Another option it to lower the adverts to around $2 then multiply them again with different targeting on the new adverts as well. It will take longer to find engagement but you have expanded the interest etc.

Also if anyone is experiencing problems with adverts not getting engagement for a while this might be due to 4 courses getting released on this method about a week ago. This is pretty hot right now so Facebook might be having trouble with adverts. They are also banning accounts for using the word "free" apparently.

Thank you very much for taking an interest in me and my journey. I welcome your advice and appreciate your background in ecomm and FB/PPC.

    1) You're absolutely right. Design is a weak point of mine, I need to bring the site up to snuff. Will be reworking things today.

    2) When you say test 10-30 ads, what kind of mix do you suggest between ad creative and ad targeting? Obviously split testing can only be helpful when testing single variables. Maybe 3 different creatives each tested in the same 3 ad sets (targeting demographics). How do you structure your testing?

    3) Great articles! I'm going to study them. With Insight Hero, are you still able to do things like cut CPC from $2 -> $.05?

PS; thanks for the tip on taking my site out. Unfortunately I already edited that post once and it's not letting me edit it again. Hopefully people are decent and won't try to jack me. But even if they do, the real way this method is successful is in the split testing. Someone could replicate my creative, site, pricing, vendor, etc. But I'm pretty sure that without my ad intel they wouldn't be a threat.

.04 conversion rate meaning that 4% of people who say his ad converted into purchase?

Because I was tracking conversions, fb isn't showing how many clicks I got. But on my shopify admin I see 14 UVs from facebook.

    So:

    Spent: $13.03
    Reach: 2447
    Clicks: 14
Conversion: .005, or 1/2%. - Which means either my creative is all wrong, or my targeted users are.
    CPC: $0.93
Sales: 0 - No sales which could likely be from my website looking unfinished.

I don't understand why 4 courses getting released on this method would impact ad engagement, being that there are SO many niches out there. My niche is in a form of exercise/sport that people are definitely passionate about. Maybe not as many PASSIONATE people as there are in pets, but they're definitely out there. I just need to find the right ways of targeting them..

    How's your gf's store doing?

    _____________________________________________________

I want to make this thread as helpful as possible for people following along, but also don't want to compromise my journey by sharing enough for people to jack my exact campaign. Does anyone have thoughts on the safety of posting my ad creative here?

I'd love to share it so I can get some critiques -- message me if you're a reputable member and want a link before I do/don't post here.
