What a joke. I'm sure they'll catch a few people, but the majority will catch on real quick. I'm sure they won't be up for long.

I was stupid enough to forget some crypto over there.
As far as I know BTC was recovered and I was able to pull it out. Alt that I've had there seems to have not survived. Although it "said" in panel that it was 100% recovered, withdrawal/trading was not allowed. It was not much of a total honestly, few hundreds, but still sort of not cool when you realize that they are RIP now.

Totally not cool.
I know everyone says "keep your private keys" and so on. But that's easier said than done. When you're trading, the crypto has to stay with the exchange. If the hack happens then, there's nothing you can do.
For crypto to develop into a proper financial system they'll need to guarantee exchange security.
"FDIC insured" crypto accounts are the obvious next step.

Well yeah. but if there is guarantee, there wont be anonymity. So one of the major strengths of the crypto - gone.

I honestly have already given up anonymity.
90% of the crypto transactions CAN be anonymous if you want.
But for serious business...there's gotta be KYC.

It's easy to be identified while doing official trades and then mix the cryptos into anonymous again.
For exchanges, KYC is mandatory IMO. But then you can withdraw into a mixer or a tumbler and nobody will ever trace your cryptos.
Just takes the right tool for the right job.
Why should exchanges be anonymous? Makes no sense. There is anonymity elsewhere if you want it.
I wouldn't say they scammed people cause people made unimaginable money in cryptopia. Don't look at the bad without talking about the good. Chaincoin, Litecoin plus, Litecoin ultra, many coins went 10x and above on their platform. It just ended badly
So if they didn't get hack, what would you have said about cryptopia? It's a high risk, high reward website.
Apparently yeah. He exit scammed, but It was a good exchange for me. I wouldn't talk bad about it. Sad how it ended but overal the exchange was a great one.
So you were there during th good times right? So much money was made there.

Whether or not some people made 'unimaginable money' off cryptopia, is irregardless of whether or not it was a scam. Their security was terribly inadequate. They knew this. And they did nothing about it.
Well don't act like it wasn't a great exchange at a time then. I hate how it ended but it paved the way for many to get into crypto
