Hi everyone, I'm doing e-commerce and recently started doing off-page for my website.

I don't have any backlinks right now, I'm going to start doing outreach for link building but I was wondering if I should purchase a foundational link package or get them opened by a VA to get some citations, bookmarks, blog comments, etc for my website before I step in and get the guest posts.

My website just started ranking for branded searches, I don't think Google indexed it yet.

I'd appreciate your input.

Actually guest posts alone are a good foundation.

Few other link types you mentioned won't hurt but getting a whole package might spam your website right from the get go.

New website? Go slow. Avoid getting carried away.

The key is to be consistent with your link building strategy and look natural at the same time.

Follow the points below. (I'm assuming you have a decent amount of content)

1. Get your social signals right. Make sure you have a page/profile on the major social networks and share some of your stuff there.

2. Sign up on a few publishing platforms such as Medium and Tumblr and post some content linking back to your website/webpages.

3. Write some blog comments every now and then on relevant websites.

4. Do guest posting on some decent blogs in your niche.

4. Get some backlinks from authority websites like Wikipedia.

5. Don't use any indexer service to get your backlinks indexed quickly.

6. When you're on #3 or #4, don't forget to work on the previous items. Get backlinks from all types of sources, but be tactical. A brand new website with 10 guest posts looks like paid stuff. Hope you get the idea.

Good luck.

If you're doing an e-commerce business, then you should prioritize setting up socials and getting as many business citations as you can.

  1. Links tell search engines that your site is important.
  2. Links can be a sign of relevance for keyword phrases.
  3. Not all links are useful for ranking purposes.
  4. The best links are links are links given freely by relevant sites.
  5. A plan for cultivating links can be useful for building a successful site.
