Foundation links vs Tier link building.

Hi,
foundation links are the basic backlinks that you get from another relevant site. This is the primary link that contributes greatly to improving your site metrics. whereas the tiered links are the second level and third links built for your primary backlinks. They are not as Costly as your primary ones but they could contribute to improving your site metrics as well. one of the best examples is your social media share.

Yeah, foundation links is your tier 1 links.
@Mr. EliteSeo explained perfectly. Most peoples prefers to get high quality authority links, Niche relevant links as tier1 links.

Tier 1 is everything that points to your money site.thanks for your answer.
Your social media profiles can be tier 1 links.
Tiered link building is when you build backlinks on your backlinks.
Moneysite < Tier 1 links < Tier 2 links < Tier 3 links etc.

I'd recommend you to do tiered linkbuilding. It yields much better results.
You can even mix them, so you do foundation backlinks, and point tier 2 and 3 links to those.

Foundation links should be from HQ sites that can improve your site metrics, tiered links will be used for further boost and diversity.

As the name indicates, the Foundation links are the First set backlinks ( referring to your Money Site directly) that you get from other relevant sites. Whereas the Tier based links are the 2nd & 3rd level of link building practices that aids your improvement. I would like to say Focus on the Foundation links to get better results.
