Today, I was doing a little keyword research for a new site I'm about to start working on. I went to the G keyword tool and found these results. A couple of the ones I circled have exact domain matches available. Anyone else ran across any terms like this? Looks like you could get a ton of traffic.
I'm just curious if anyone else found results like this and had success.
It's for a physical product, brand

maybe they are some company or product names? just enter "microsoft" in the google keyword tool and you get similar results.
 
i'm interested too. my opinion is if these keywords have a huge searched volume, competition can be low, but very hard to win.
 
They are exact searches, nothing like microsoft though.
I'm doing more research right now trying to figure out how hard it will be to get my site on pg 1. I was just surprised, it's the first time I have ever been doing kw research and ran across something like this.

That's exactly what I'm going to try to find out. I know there is a lot more variables besides kw competition but seems like if you were able to get page 1, there is money to be made
 
If they are not exact searches, then you are not reading the numbers properly, and if it is exact searches, it's still a numbers game.

Example, one time one of my keywords supposedly got 74,000+ exact searches per month, and when I ranked 2nd position on the first page, I only got 60+ visits per day, which was about 1,800+ per month.
 
The competition is low so no ones bidding on the term which means it may not have any search value or ability to sell the product or search term.

The Competition column gives you a sense of how many advertisers are bidding for a particular keyword. This data can help you determine how competitive the ad placement is.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I think it's so broad that getting conversions may be difficult. Maybe need to add some buyer keywords and reevaluate.
 
How many results do you get when you search for "keyword" ("" not needed if only 1 word) in google? What PRs do the top ten have? How old are they? How many backlinks do they have? What is the adwords value? All these should give a better idea of it's value to pursue or not.
 
If it is a product name, then you can run into trademark issues

Google changed the way they display competition. Don't believe me? Search for keywords like mp3, music, internet, google...bla bla...I can keep on forever.

All these KW have almost 0 competition displayed in GKT. That's because GOOGLE CHANGED THE WAY THEY SHOW THE COMPETITION
 
OK, I didn't noticed the competition part. Basically what you are doing is assuming the Google Adword competition for SEO competition. The Google keyword tool shows you how many advertizers are there for a particular keyword, which is shown graphically as the bar which you have highlighted.

Do not assume this to be the strength of SEO competition to rank well in organic listings. You need to do further analysis to find that out, the above competition is only useful for PPC advertisement.
 
There are a few of these search terms around like this and for the most part, an old adage applies - "if its to good to be true then it....." the problem with these brand terms is what beazt says above. If you set up a site using a branded name you need to be prepared for the solicitors letter to drop through your mailbox - this is coming from experience which I have had on more than one occasion where you simply will have to hand it over.....

Personally, in my view its not worth the trouble but if you really want to go after something like this I would use a free blogger account to try it out - at least this way its not going to land you with problems - the direction you are currently taking will probably do so.
