Hi All,

I am relatively new and one of the things that really attracted me to making some passive income is the affiliate programs. I have found a nice niche and product that I believe will be attractive.

Any initial startup tips or tricks to beware of. I understand that it's about consistency and discipline, but I am wondering if there are any initial positioning steps I can take that would place me on a path to success.

I am looking forward to hearing ideas and tips.

Best regards,

SEO takes time, so mix in quicker wins like Pinterest or Reddit traffic. Also log leads emails from the start that list becomes your long term asset. Don’t chase too many platforms master one first.

Great to hear you’ve found a niche and product to start with! How did you validate that there’s real demand for it? Checking competitors can also help spot what’s working. One tip: focus on building trust with your audience before pushing sales too hard.

Hi Thanks for your reply. I know there is a demand for it from the brief research i've done. I need to do a larger market research on it. The product is art supplies, and I'm very intimiate with the art world in my city. So that + a lack of content that explains paint (oil, acrylic, watercolor) itself and the aesthetic marketability of the product led me to the conclusion. I have started doing some competitor research as well.

Great to hear you’ve found a niche.
Some tips for getting started:
  • Build trust first - create helpful content around your niche.
  • Focus on one traffic source at the beginning (e.g., TikTok, blog, YouTube).
  • Build an email list early - it’s your long-term asset.
  • Test different angles and messaging to see what converts best.
Stay consistent and learn from analytics. You’re on the right path!

Market and competitor analysis has already been mentioned above, so I'll add about the importance of deeply understanding your customers and their needs. It's really cool that you're intimate with the art world -- I'd try having several customer development conversations with artists closest to you. You need to hear and document HOW and WHAT they say about the process of buying art supplies. What they pay attention to, what causes them doubts, etc.

Then you can use exactly these formulations in your advertising materials and communication in general.

Thanks for the reply so far, as far as the content itself goes, how engaging should it be, or would AI video + some influencer marketing work? What are some options when it comes to the actual content? My initial target was going to be blogs + short videos on Pinterest.

Nice to see you're getting started with a clear niche and product in mind, that’s already a solid step ahead.

One thing that really helps early on is focusing on building trust before pushing the product. Start by creating helpful content around the problem your product solves. Think blog posts, short videos, or even simple comparison guides.

Also, try to capture emails early. Even a basic lead magnet can help build a list you’ll thank yourself for later.

And finally, don’t try to do too much at once. Pick one traffic source, learn it well, and stay consistent.

Wishing you all the best. Keep sharing your progress!
