Found domain with foreign backlinks

Is that a problem?

Not necessarily depends on the niche and what you’re building. if you’re targeting English speaking markets a majority of foreign language backlinks means the auth those links pass may not be as relevant.

Foreign backlinks are not automatically bad. If they came from real sites and match the old topic, fine.

If the anchors are random casino/pharma/adult stuff, or the domain used to be in a totally different niche, I’d be careful before building on it.

The word doing the damage in your question is foreign, when the one that matters is former. Language of the links tells you very little on its own, and nicenic has the right filter for the anchors. The question underneath is what this domain used to be, because a domain that carries a backlink profile which no longer matches anything is usually one that was something else before it dropped, and whatever it did then may still be attached to it. Pull it up in the Wayback Machine and look at what it was hosting across the years those links were built. If the archive shows a normal site in a normal niche and the links line up with it, you have a domain with history in another language and that is fine. If the archive shows a gap, then a sudden pivot into an unrelated niche, or pages in a language the site never otherwise used, you are looking at a domain that was already used and burned once, and the backlinks are the residue rather than the asset.
