I found a website that largely resembles my idea but which has some faults in my opinion. We have the same main keyword as in for example "xplans" against "funxs". It has a 3 layered structure like i was planning but the second level is littered with categories and the third layer has articles with keywords that no one searches for. Also the site itself looks horrible, its like a shotgun victim or something. Worthofweb says that it gets 200 dollars a month and theres 1.5k backlinks and 100 referring domains. The site is one year old.

So i was thinking of building a website that has same second layer keywords, but in addition to that, it would also have better article keywords in third layer and the site would look prettier.

1. Do you think i should i go into the market?
2. Is there a consensus on the amount of second layer categories in relation to third layer articles?
3. Is it ok to create an article with keyword that has good cpc but only about 10 advertisers? Isnt that enough for one article?
4. (off topic) Building tier 1 web 2.0's and tier 2 links (with gsa or other) should i use different emails in the process or hide my identity somehow? Also will it hurt me if i dont hide my identity behind my site as in with Whois searches?

Can somebody please give advice bump..

How does that site impact you? There are so many sites out there... in most cases an esistance of a similar site not done well i proof of concept with some target to beat

I was just adding the numbers together and wondering that if established blog with same second layer keywords gets only 200 dollars a month what chance do i have of getting more. But i guess i will try to do it because i already bought the site and had so much trouble of finding a keyword.

If you you could still help with the advertising and link building points.
The niche area im in doesnt have that much advertising competition, but is like 10 advertisesrs enough for a keyword to be sure that theres enough price competition?
And also about the link building in general, should i do it somehow anonymously and should my website be anonymous?

@pesos

If I may ask, why are you choosing a site that only generates $200/month? I'm sure you could easily duplicate its success. Go after a site that will stretch your skills and that generates more.

Well i was hoping to get 100 dollars a day.. But Im new at this and really spent like 2 full days to pick up a main keyword and once i found one i went with it. But its a niche in a sense that i didnt pick "car" for my main keyword but "pick up truck".

I feel like the money categories like health are really difficult. I thought about writing a help site for stomach problems but all health categories are littered with gov and 1996 sites. Are you guys really choosing the "best home insurance" or "nice web hosting" websites? Can you guys give some examples of main keyword that you thought was promising but dropped it? Just to get a sense of where to go.

A couple of important points here;
a) don't bother looking for validation or support, just make your own decision and stick with it
b) the problem with trying to earn $200/mth is that you'll earn $200/mth. Work on something worthwhile.
