Today I found a weird site ranking for a lot of keyword with only some backlinks.

Actually I have stumbled upon a similar website a while ago... interesting..
 
From the look of the URLs, this guy uses hacked domains to get the content on. I've seen multiple websites like this, the traffic will vanish after the webmaster finds out. Good luck to him!

^ exactly this I've been through this same thing lol happened to me
 
Mainstream affiliates, since his keywords are broad, and depends what ranks or not. This guy/team is banking hard!
 
Hmm, have you checked if the site has blocked usual backlink service sites? Loads of crap still about.

On Semrush at least yes, it has a lot of terms ranking but not many in top 10.
