Hi, the domain has about 502 backlinks. I took a look at the backlinks and they all seem too come from some Romenian websites that have hundreds of links on their landing pages.

Should I buy this domain or is it risky because of all the spammy backlinks? I used SEMRush and Moz. And the domain would be for main money site.

I wouldn't use it if I were you, especially not for a money site. It's not worth the risk, even a brand new domain is better than the risk of a penalized expired one.

Check out the Majestic stats. Moz are positioning themselves as pretty useless these days so I am starting to advise that people stop using them so much.

Majestic TF is generally a better gauge of how decent the backlink profile is in terms of spammyness, the higher the TF the better.

What about the Moz Spam Score ? If its less than 5 then OK.

Check manually, if the backlinks are spammed, then stay away...

Moz Spam score said it was 0. When I checked the backlinks manually, at least the five that I clicked were all landing pages with huge spinned articles in some weird language with hundreds of links to different sites.

Check how many ref. domains on ahrefs or majestic. Then check the backlinks... If they are coming from shady domains, stay away.

whats the tf/cf of the domain? Based on what you said about the backlinks profile I would forget about that domain- it simply has no backlinks that gives any value..

If I buy an expired domain I Check before what kind of website has it been, make sure that the TF/CF is at least 20 for both, check that there are backlinks from at least 30-40 different domains and that the backlink sources aren't just total Tat like you said your domain has. If the website has been a genuine good content website before and If I can restore some of that content- thus saving even more time and money by not needing new content I snatch that thing up!

But domains like those are really rare and You do have to wait for a good one for some time.

Follow your instinct. Google is extremely crazy these days they want to destroy spam with a sword and spoon. They'll eat spam right up. When it comes to Google, utilize the best white-hat stuff you can.

So I checked Majestic as you guys said, here is the stats on the root Domain:

CF: 22
TF: 02
BACKLINKS: 3487
REFERRING DOMAINS: 1609

As far as the free version lets you see, all of the backlinks I could see follow the same style and have hundreds of links on mainpage.

But here is what is weird. When I checked the list of referring domains, they seemed to be legit websites or blogs, with high CF and low TF. Although one of them had 29/19.

I am going to say away then, but the stats sure are confusing

Not confusing at all. High CF with low TF is a pretty good indicator that the links are spammy. TF/CF = 2/22 makes this domain worthless IMO. Links don't necessarily pass on the metrics from the page they're on, I'm not sure how Majestic works that out but it seems to depend on other factors too.

Just like everyone is saying, the domain look suspicious, imagine having a CF of 22 and TF 2? That is an indicator that things is not right. I will not use this as a moneysite, unless I want to do a case study on the domain.

If you have the spare cash, you can still buy the domain, build a site around it and then blast it with backlinks, if it ranks, good. If not, it is worth the case-study.
At least you will know if TF and CF matters or not.

Many other factors to be considered

TF
Number of RD
TF : CF

archive.org history
anchor text profile

Forget it, unless you are looking to rank in google.ro.

In my opinion, only the link profile matters not DA/PA/TF/CF. I have some spam test sites that are 50+DA and wouldn't want them linking to my money sites, that's for sure. You can easily inflate metrics, you can't fake having a link profile from HuffPo, BBC, etc etc

Always be aware of spammy domain to avoid penalty.Get away from it.

Be careful when buying expired domains, sometimes these domains are already penalized before.
