Comcast would never change my IP and leaving the modem off for a full day didn't reset it and after having same IP for a year I stumbled on a sure fire way to get a new IP.
Don't pay your bill and get shut off. Bam, new IP when you pay your bill. They are even helping poors that get shut off to sweeten the deal.

Comcast does not have static IP for residential services. So, if you have a Comcast residential service, then simply switching off and then switching on your internet (modem) device, would give you a new IP.
It is in the Comcast business services, that a static IP is given. So, perhaps, you have a Comcast Business services internet plan and not paying the bill, getting internet shut off, then paying your bill, in order to get a new IP, would be a headache & an inconvenience to you, each time. In that case, consider your options to swtich to Comcast residential service, if you want to easily get a new IP as many times as you need it.

Nope just a normal residential connection. Turning off the modem used to work but doesn't anymore. Power was out for 2 days and still had same IP.

well if it works, it works, enjoy it, free is always good,
wont be long until they figure it out and patch it .
Yea I was getting 100% free internet and they took over a year to patch that one so I'm not worried since most people won't do this anyway. I do wonder how many were getting free internet though haha. I found it by accident and never told anyone but they patched it so someone knew.

Try spoofing your mac id perhaps (of the device that directly connects to the external network)? I guess the bind happens on the mac id, so changing that should help.

edit: if the bind happens on your username/id, this won’t help..

Oh yea forgot about that. Picked up a used modem for $10. Same effect if you're not technicality inclined.

So, that worked? Nice :D
My isp won’t even let you connect to the internet though lol. You will first have to call them and get the mac id unblocked/whitelisted. But then, my isp changes the ip regularly, so I don’t care really.

I just had to go xfinity site and change the modem was pretty easy. Save $13 a month using my own gear.
