For one of my sites in the health niche, I saw a competitor posting links on forums with their signature. Ran that through Moz and it seems like each time they post, all links in their signature get picked up.

Seeing this, I went ahead and tried the same thing. Problem was that Google Search Console and Moz only picked up the links on my profile page only. They did not pick up links in my signature each time I posted.

Anyone can offer an explanation to this?

I noticed my competitor posts pretty long anchor text for each link in their signature eg. Top 10 ways to prepare avocado. While mine is alot shorter eg. prepare avocado.

Could that be the reason why?

How do you know Google isn't picking them up? Is the page you're signature is located indexed? If yes, then Google will pick it up for sure.

If it doesn't show on MOZ, that doesn't mean anything at all.

How exactly do you know they aren't getting indexed?
GSC and moz crawlers are not definitive proof of that.

*edit* Geasy beat me to it. Damnit.

@Geasy Thanks for the replies. To answer your question.

How do you know Google isn't picking them up?

Cause when I logged into GSC, it only shows me that ONE link from that forum is showing up. I spammed at least 10 comments all with my signature so there should be more appearing.

Yes, the page where my signature is located is indexed. Could it be that because of the short anchor text I am using (and I am using many), that is why Google overlooks it as it comes across as spam?

@Soucha so what is the definitive proof then?

GSC never shows all your links, and even when it does show links, they often show up late.
I'm actually surprised you never noticed this?

As for definitive proof of your links being indexed, well, outside of gaining access to google's database, I don't believe there is any.
If the page is indexed and has been crawled since dropping your links, you should be good to go.
Honestly, I am confused as to why you're assuming they aren't indexing.

Firstly you need to know, Their link is 100% index?

If yes so why yous are not indexed yet. There is always a different criterion for every forum community. Some forum communities allow do follow links, home page link & link & some don't' allow all these so same things would be there.

If your competitor's links are index so surely yours will be too.

We are doing signature links on the exact same forum. My suspicion is that they are using long tail keywords in their signature while I am using shorter terms. That helps them get indexed faster. Any truth to this?
