Good morning bhw. Thank you for all the education everyone shares. I have my first crisis I need help with.

I have been building links steadily with Magic Submitter for a client and things have been going well. I did do a little scrapebox too but only to tier 2. Then I had the bright idea to have customer change his signature on two forums he has been active on for many years. We included one keyword link to home page. Within days traffic stopped from Google and the dance around page 10 results began. It has been a week. Last night I checked Google Webmaster Tools and there appears to be a link increase of 100 or so links shortly after the sig change.

My question is is this just a penalty and not deindexed? Would having him remove the signature from his forum profiles correct the pg 10 rankings? Is it something else? Any other corrective measures to take?

Thank you all.

I don't think so, if it was so it was so easy to ruin your rivals

Not a penalty, but don't change backlinks that have existed for years. Those have established trust and changing resets the trust-o-meter.

Not a charge, but don't change back hyperlinks that have sustained for many. Those have established believe in and changing begins over the trust-o-meter.
