So, I got a vB forum up and running, now the ranking side of things.

How would you go about doing SEO for a forum?

There are 3 words I want to rank for, say A, B, C, would i have to somehow include these words in the posts I make?

Also, would it be time for link building? But how would that help me rank for the words A,B,C in regards to a forum, is it the same process.

Sorry for my ignorance, I somewhat grasp the basics in regards to a blog or website, but just wondering if Forums work the same way :) or if there are any extras I should keep in mind.

I was thinking a combination of both.

Since it is a Vbulletin forum, first thing you should do is install VBSEO

You need backlinks, with anchor text. The more diverse, and high quality links you have the higher you are going to rank. Check out the services section there is good stuff in there. I wish you the best :)
