There seem to be a big craze for forum profiles. But wouldn't forum signatures essentially be the same thing and work just as well?

Also your signature wouldn't get deleted as spam either as forum profiles would.

In my opinion, forum signatures work better than profiles. But signatures are more likely to uncover you as spammer, specially on unrelated forums. Profiles are far more discrete.

I think the best link is the one that goes into the post. Both in terms of human views and spider views.

Actually unless the forum is related to your niche making a post and adding a link in the sig is more likely to get you marked as a spammer and get you deleted.

I have found the most successful way of getting forum profiles to stick is when you first create the profile to add a non-commercial sig or bio without a link and then go back later and change it and add your link then. Also instead of just adding a bare link bury it in a few sentences. Actually make it look like a real bio or sig instead of just a spammy bunch of links.

Yeah the only reason why forum profile works better than forum signature is that in profile we generally build links to different types of sites with varied platforms. Where as in signature we get only one type of links from the same forum where we are a member. Thats my opinion though : )

i run forums, usually i ban people for advertising competitor forums. if the sites aren't related, i don't bother banning people.

I rarely look at profile links. unless that specific profile draws my attention.

seriously thinking about getting Xrumer. It's so damn expensive, i could afford it but it's the price of an Ipad. No software should cost that much.

    anyone else bought Xrumer?

profliles seem like they take longer to get indexed but they are unlikely removed by the mod.

Xrummer works like a charm used properly. It's kind of pricey though.

To get a profile indexed fast, just post any comment in any topic of the forum. The crawler will index the profile faster and it will also give to the profile page some juice from the post where you are commenting.
