Forum PBN?

the whole purpose of owning a PBN is to have your backlink placed all alone on the homepage of your PBN where the most power is. I don't think you can place your link on a forum's homepage 
And to function as parasites the forums would have to actually rank for good keywords, something that I've not seen them doing.
So, to answer your question: no, I don't think that forums make for good PBNs / parasites.

You make it impossible for people to register, make fake users etc for it to look like real site, put in menu of the site the links. even a link from BHW (arguably the biggest and most popular forum on Earth in its niche) is not strong enough to rank you for medium keywords, what makes you think that a fake forum that has no traffic, no engagement and no authority makes for a good PBN?
I've seen BHW ranking, but never for high volume keywords. I don't think that google likes forums that much, which is weird considering they favor popular sites

If it hasn't been done, it's up to you to test it out and make up your mind. But links from forums are known for not passing too much juice

But what do we actually know? We don't know much, same as in life when it comes to Google we are just a frog in the well, a lot of stuff that I see people talking about saying "it's dead" but I am still earning money by that method so their comments are just laughable to me, if i actually save up time to try this out i will update you two guys

portfolio & landing pages type of websites would be a better option, at least for me,
they're easier to handle, can have more genuine homepage content and the link could be contextual,
you can add other forum & different type of links for diversity,
if you're building a solid pbn, you don't even have to worry about this

Forum parasites was probably the first kind of parasites everyone used IIRC

forum links don't have power. Sure, it might rank you for a meaningless keyword, but you can't rely on forum links to get stable, long-lasting rankings (although, I do remember someone a few years ago has ranked in the Health niche only with forum links, I couldn't believe when I saw that... still, that's an isolated case, I've never seen this being replicated since)

If I were you, I would be taking advantage of popular forums in my niche and getting the backlinks from discussion threads. If you get 10-20 backlinks from different popular forums in a month, then it will benefit you more than creating backlinks on your self-owned PBN sites, and as the discussion gets more engagement, it will give you continuous value.
