irrelevant thread with PR0 will not effect your account that means your account will not be banned.

Yes at the time of building the forum account, we just create the the forum profile with signature link. this is the best way of forum marketing.

Forum posting is for traffic and reputation. You will only get 3 link from any site to actually count to the search engines, the rest will be devalued.

Can anyone substantiate this claim? I don't want to waste the time posting my links everywhere if I can only get 3 from a forum. I understand the traffic and rep part.

how relevant is the traffic that comes through forums ?since this is a SEO forum..most of the guys here might be SEO and why would someone else come to such forums?
