What are the best forums to attack for getting backlinks?
These are the questions you have to ask yourself:
1. What's the product or service I'm hawking at the moment?
2. What's type of critter (human being) or who are the possible users of my wares?
If these criteria are meet then this is the right moment to jump into conclusion that these types of fora you're going to associate with to bait the links that you hanker after.
Autoattacker is right. You'll need to be clear who your market niche is and the profile of the folks you are trying to target.
It might not make sense to post links or sales pitches for Internet marketing products in body building / muscle and fitness forums.
biginch: Of course, you might be looking for for an answer like this?:
a) the forum should have a page rank of e.g. PR3 or higher.
b) there should be at least 1000 active members, not a a rule but you need a nice number of active forum members who actually read & respond to the forum posts and of that number, only a percentage will click or respond or look at your offer, and of those who respond, an even smaller number of these might buy...it's all about conversions at each step.
c) their A l e x a traffic trend is increasing - this might not be a must for a number of reasons, but the data could give you some useful information.
d) the forum has a "culture" of buying and selling - I guess some forums are all talk talk talk and talk only... very little in the way of actual buying or selling. Again, this does not mean that you can't make friendly "recommendations" to forum members there, but only after you have made useful posts, and built up some trust and credibility in those forums.
