Now I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. But what if I created a forum about anything? Like no specific Niche just a forum where you can talk about what ever the hell you want just freedom. Would that be a good forum or bad? I guess I would just make a bunch of forums/sub forums about different topics?

This is called a general forum. It exists. It's much easier to build a niche forum because you can target your niche.

Hmm ya I see that now. Well I do have a interest in Quantum Physics and Theoretical Physics. Different types of philosophy and religion also. But idk who would want to join a forum about that stuff even though it interest me.

Trust me people are really into Quantum Physics and Theoretical Physics. Just last week a buddy of mine sent me a text message about something physical that he did with his new lady friend.

Before you create a forum, you must learn to appreciate the effort that is put into running a good forum. It is hard work that requires a team of specialized and unbiased individuals. If you still want to create a forum, I must recommend that you create a specific community first. A YouTube community, a cult following, Facebook group page -- whichever + more. That way it is much easier to get an actual community rolling and posting!

A general forum exists already, it's called reddit lol.

Do a niche forum. Human beings are social by nature and will want to talk about other things anyway.

I feel like you would be better off targeting a niche, and then possibly expand to have a robust general section of the site?

Ownign a forum is not as easy as it sounds.

populating and moderating a forum, maintaining its quality, expanding user base, preventing from attacks, is some of the daily tasks you'd need to perform

People recently prefer to join Facebook groups instead of forum websites. Forum owner is not is easy as it was. You should focus one topic and attract people to join your forum.

obviously pick a niche first. Then make the forum. SEO is nice but a family member of mine makes a comfortable living owning a 8+ year old forum that he built using old school methods -- gaining members one by one. It supports him by itself. in america. biggest tip is go where your niche people are and then tempt them to your forum. If you spend an hour a day, it may take a while, but a forum or two can make you a comfortable living eventually.
