People seem to always make this kind of mistake. Living large acting as if the world has no consequences, then *BAM*! Reality hits. I agree he could have had plenty of money to keep him afloat or maybe even start his own business offline or online. Hell, Mike Filsaime did it.....

I saw this a couple of days ago (Good Morning America, I think), and I smell a rat. Based on the story, the guy is well qualified - in fact, I could use him at the right price. You tell me that he made $750K (maybe he did, maybe he didn't) and can't find any job paying more than $7.29 an hour? No jobs at 200K (those are hard to find and take a year or more of looking), 80K (easy to find around here), or 40K a year? He won't relocate or pull his kids out of private school? I make a decent living and if I had to go out and find another job and all I could find was one paying $7.29 (or whatever it was) an hour, I'd do what I could to feed my family but I'm not sure that I would even tell my wife & kids, let alone go on national TV. My BS detector is blaring - it may be 'the truth' but I'm sure that there is more to the story.
I read an article in the local fishwrap a few days ago (maybe from the AP newswire) that 50% of people with household incomes over 100K a year don't have enough money to go 1 month without a paycheck. Scary stuff if you're in that 50%...

This guy has an opportunity to really learn a lesson about humility. If he has to lose it all to start over and do it the right way, he could teach other people how to do it as well. Let's hope many good things come out of this for this man and his family...and all those people who find themselves in the exact same situation.

Actually your quite right. A while ago there was a shortage of jobs in my area for my speciality. (Which is Cisco networking as such). In anycase i was talking to someone about it. And he told me to go get a job at a supermarket till i could get a job back where i wanted to be. We argued for some time over it. And this was his analogy
"If you are a brain surgeon, but no one needs brain surgeory, then you cant be a brain surgeon. So if you are a cisco networking prof, and no one wants cisco networks, then you cant be one"
However i said this to him which kind of ended the argument "I agree that if no one needs brain surgeory he cant be a brain surgeon, BUT he will be able to be a general surgeon, a GP, Your everyday doctor, ETC. He doesnt need to go into a supermarket"
Which as it turned out i got a job as an ISP data engineer which is kind of similar to my qualifications but not quite.
Tl;DR. Just because he cannot be a CEO, there is plenty of 100k jobs or so that would do good with him. I fail to see how he could drop that far.
The guy probably thought, based on his past success, that he was a rock star and it would be beneath him to settle for anything less than what he previously had. Time passed, nothing came up and then the economy took a down turn. He waited too long to find a job within his skill set and now is having to take anything he can get.
Of course, on the other hand, the guy's confidence could have been shot when the company he started failed. And every day that passed that he wasn't hired by someone else, he could have felt more and more like a failure. Maybe this pizza job is more of a reflection on how emotionally low the guy is feeling.
One more thing...
A common issue of many entrepreneurs, and maybe YOU, is taking things to the edge. That means we try to outearn ourselves, don't give up, and wait until the absolutely last minute for something to come in and save the day.
This story, greed or not, could happen to any of us, if we let it.

And yes, I speak from experience. Just got shut down for going way too fast and way too big. That's how I think though-- if it works, I do more of it.

if he was a ceo for 10 years, he has forgotten more bh that we will ever know.
They lived like kings for over 10 years. Where the fook are those 750k a year. Didn't he put some of them aside for bad times. Some people are idiots. I really don't sympathize with them. Imagine that, they will not eat anymore in restaurants. Tough luck my friend ex former CEO, neither are we.
