Great job. I really think that a lot of people could benefit from some of this. Especially not to under-estimate others on this forum.

You never know when the person you're slamming for making a "how do I do IM" thread could be owning your ass in your own segment someday. Maybe not today or tomorrow - but it could happen.

The more that we all help eachother learn and explore different methods, twists and IM segments - the better we all will be.

Thanks no4ck,

I appreciate your input :)

If people are trying to bring you DOWN,it only means that you're above them...

@ezlegion Great post, I have been thinking of writing something similar, but I'll just add it here, feel free to put it in the original post if you want.

Another thing I have noticed except for the points up there is that newbies don't try to learn from guys by PMing and asking for guidance and offend us in a way.

A month and some ago, I got a PM form a guy asking me if i could help him pick up things with seo since he's a beginner but not afraid of hard work. I couldn't see why I shouldn't throw in a few tips here and there when he gets stuck. But what I saw later was:

He didn't treat me as a friend, but just as a source, in a way as soon as he gets his things out, that's it. I've been in that position, but I don't PM only when I need stuff, I also try to help the guy helping me to return the favor.
I remember when I had no clue about most stuff (when starting out) i had a few guys helping me out that I offered to write articles for. I didn't write more then 1-2, and they didn't even wanted that because they knew i was working so hard on my projects. But what mattered is that i was grateful for their help and even though in a bad position with cash, i wanted to give the favor (even if advice and article can't be compared).

So don't treat someone who helps you put bread on your table like a resource.

Also, every once in a while I see a post that hasn't been researched, and the user DEMANDS answers. No one would help you if you act as a boss. No one has an obligation to help. We want to help when we can because someone else has helped us. But we haven't said "how do i build backlinks" (or have but learnt from our mistake).

And as BassTrackerBoats said in one of his great posts, this is a buisness, treat it as such. Work hard if you want to see returns. Do you think people in other industries are dumb to work hard when "IM" can be that easy. They aren't, because it's HARD.

So motivate yourself, start reading instead of writing. Try and you will know one thing you didn't before. Do it enough times and you will see the returns you've been waiting for.

What can I say to that Mr Hughes? lol

You've made me feel like I want to break some world air speed records myself ;)

Than you very much
Ben

Really humble and true gentleman's words:)

+repped you

@op unfortunately what you wrote there only resonates with people who already do that. Don't expect the others to become enlightened by your post though. No matter how much you try to be an example for others or teach them something, most will still be complete morons. It's a thing with Mother Nature...

Thanks for the list of quotes, I always dig quotes :) My favorite is:

Very good post. Some tips to help me. Really liked the adage: "Hit the search button, unlock the world". Very actually

Hahaha,
yeah - watched that again the other day! :)

Very excellent post sir. I think that from time to time we are all guilty of not giving due credit to those who graciously help us.

Though not a proverb, this quote sticks in my mind and might be applicable to this.

"Some people are like Slinkys. Not much good for anything, but bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs."

I appreciate these types of threads. Looks like a lot of people have been dipping in the self help niche a bit I see ;)

Along with manners, I also have a quote from a movie that changed my mindset completely for the better and it goes:

"No fear, no distractions. The ability to let that which does not matter... truly slide"

Manners are one thing that always matter at that and most forget when entering a new environment. Beyond that, this quote, if you choose to control yourself in order to follow it, can be your key to success.

Even taking it one sentence at a time is progress, and baby steps like that may have yourself beating procrastination and other blocks with practice sooner than u think.

By the way that quote came from the movie "Fight Club" and there are a lot more brilliant quotes in that movie if u look at it from a marketing perspective.

If you have spare time and need a movie to watch u should check it out (*cough letmewatchthis *cough *cough)

Much Success! :plane:

Politics dictates that the more you repeat something to someone, the more they see it as the truth, whether it be truth or lie. (Not the exact quote, but similar)

@OP, Thanks for this refresher. Being an angry/bitter person by nature, my life changed because of someone who said similar things 5 years ago.

So I second that sticky proposal, because someone will read it and it will change them.

Thank you imperial109,

Your post has moved me, I understand completely ;).

I am flattered that you think my post may have that much of a +ve effect on anyone but if it does then that's cool :). Thanks also, very much, for suggesting it should be a sticky. If it deserves it then it will be.

A really good thread here with a lot of helpful tips here. I recommend that everyone views this and reads it in it's entirety.

Great post! +repp'd.

Dmm you madoctopus, you took my yoda quote :D

Walk and talk softly, carry a big stick.

Always help another up the ladder, you never know when the day will come when you might need their help.
