Guys, does it matter?
significantly less pips than both of you. If you were make 5 pips a week but were trading 100 lots on each trade, that would be $5k a week (about. don't go into details with spread/pip value etc.). I'd rather those 5 pips than aiming for 600 with the same trade!
End of the day, every one managed money in different ways and has a different style. One may work for some and not for others. And visa-versa.
I know people who have made money by flipping a coin, and if it's heads, they go long, and tails, they got short. Everyone would blast him etc. but he actually made some OK money (but of course, it messed him over in the end, but that is besides the point here).
600 pips on a trade i don't feel is worth waiting for, and 6 isn't worth the spread with most commercial brokers. It's just personal preference.
Maybe you should both try each others strategies to diversify your portfolio's and go from short-long term and long-short term.
Longer charts are generally better value for money, but i've been in trades for weeks when i've been able to get many smaller trades on the reversals and pocketed more pips on the short term trends within the longer trends. I stick to 4 hour charts as i trade only a few times a week and it suits my style. It may not suit either of yours.
Just be glad you're making money, and stop flaming, please? Any pips are better than no pips!
PS - romeo, 200 pips in a day? I find that hard to believe. Post some proof or i believe people with accuse you of things. & spanky, 36 pips for 15% may be some pretty high leverage, might want to back off the gas just incase something goes wrong on a trade, but i assume you've already got that under control ;]
