I've heard that if you're not a citizen of US and you'd buy an .us domain it could be taken away from you (lol?). I've done a little research and coldudnt find anything. So, if I'm not british, can I buy and maintain a co.uk domain?
I've found the answer myself on the net "Allocations are on a strict first-come, first-served basis to qualified applicants. There are no territorial restrictions: applicants need not have any connection to the UK."
Thread may be closed, posted the answer for people who will be searching for the answer in future.
.co.uk anyone in the world can buy.
.us - you need to have us presence or the registrar Neustar can take the domain away from you, if you cannot prove that you are based in the US.
.es - Spain. Since 2005 it allows worldwode registration BUT Private registration not allowed. Also they don't have the typical WHOIS, but a Spanish version.
