Force Ping for Wordpress Blog

I just recently put up a new blog and it's full of content. I also have a script I wrote running on the blog that shows randomized news headlines that are related to the blog topic everytime the blog is viewed.

I realize that posting new comments or pages to the blog will cause wordpress to ping all the URLs I have in the ping list. But what I'd like to do is have the capability to force a ping without having to add a new post or comment.

I searched around on Google and I did find a plugin that had a 'Ping Now' button that forced an immediate ping, but the plugin was old and didn't work with any WP version beyond 1.2

Does anyone know of an easy way to force a ping with the latest WP version 2.5.1?

Try auto*pinger.com- it was mentioned in another thread and looks like it will do what you want it to do.

It's really wonderful that I found BHW - everybody shares and is willing to jump in there and help a fellow marketer.

I've been online just about ever since the internet first began and I've never before found such a helpful and unselfish group of people as on BHW.

Another option is the BloggerGenerator suite. Joe Tierney (a member here I think) bundles a lot of other pieces with the "main" tool that are very beneficial even if you don't want to build splogs. You can use the included linkgrabber to parse all the url's from your sites and then use the blog pinger (with proxy if you like) to ping that url file on a regular schedule too. Those 2 are just "freebies" you get with the main blogger generator which only goes for about $60. Just my $.02

You can get these programs for free from his site even if you don't buy Blogger Generator.
