For PBN! WOW!

I usually choose Expired Domains and start building content as well as gaining traffic. you can set backlink after about 36 days.

Testing is an important part of seo, totally.

My question to you would be;

Had you got a brand new, fresh domain and at the same time bought an expired / aged quality domain and then done the exact work on both, which do you think would have got the better results ?

I never said expired domains are worse than the fresh ones. They are quite strong however if you don't know how to overcome visual filters (content+layout that match the previous version of expired domain :) ) it will bring you little to no power at all.

I still mix things up and use both kind of domains. The thing is setting up a fresh domain + sending links to it is easy as hell and doesn't take long time. You may do it additionally to boost your rankings or even solely if you focus on not competitive keywords. Lastly, I never got them deindexed. Since these are not re-purposed domains but genuine ones you don't need to worry about this.

My apologies for misunderstanding. I put it in quotes and at least this is how people wanted to describe my way of thinking back then. Peace

No real need for an apology, I just didn't want anyone thinking I was calling them an idiot. Especially not for asking a question.

Back on subject however; the reason expired domains work so well is that they have backlinks and history that you just don't get with a new domain.

If you use a new domain you can be, mostly, sure that the domain has no bad links and you can start building the authority and history from a clean slate. New domain PBNs likely would be a safe option (if done correctly) but definitely will take more time and effort as you are needing to build up the domains to generate any value from them as part of your PBN. This is likely to take some weeks or even months longer to get any tangible benefit from these domains as well as some fairly significant amount of work to get there.

With expired domains you do not need to do nearly as much work as the domain already has backlinks and some history, the issue with expired domains is that you can't always be sure about the history or backlinks. With that said if the domain has a clean history and backlink profile, not really that hard to check, you save all the time building the backlinks and hoping that they get indexed. Expired domains are just a quicker and easier route to gains which when "time is money" they can be invaluable.

You're twisting what people are saying.
"I never said expired domains are worse than the fresh ones." nobody mentioed that you'd said that, same as nobody has called anyone an idiot.

What people are saying is an aged, expired, clean domain with high quality backlinks from say BBC, NY Times is going to carry more weight than a fresh, brand new domain registered this week.

The other thing I asked, was had you run the experiment using the backlinking to your PBN domain, and done a side by side comparison which do you think would still have the higher authority after adding the exact links to each?

I understand what you're saying but we're talking at cross purposes here.

If your expired domain is clean (anchors / reffering domains / what i used to etc ) it's always more powerful than fresh. But that doesn't mean you can start it with a fresh domain. It's always good to use a fresh domain than using a horrible backlinking profile domain. You can use ahrefs and majestic seo to check domain backlinking profile. For fresh domains you can build authority from scratch.(contextuals / web 2.0s etc)

New domains do not have any link juice; therefore pointing them to whichever site doesn't really benefit much.. You're better off looking for (clean) expired domains.. (None of those spammy viagra and porn backlink crud). Revamp, put up, automate and let it site for a few months before pointing it to X domain. Remember; the whole point of a PBN is to simulate different users - so just keep in mind pointing this and that is just a letter in the alphabet versus. There're more steps to continue on then/thus multiplied

For your reference here is a result how my ranking changes when I use 1 fresh domain PBN powered up with auto-created T2 backlinks.

That is not a PBN then is it?

What you have built is simply a buffer site. These tier 2 links you created are going to be much higher risk than a solid PBN and what you have just done is waste your time really.

You have all the disadvantages of a PBN (in building a site, time, expense) and none of the advantages such as relatively safe ranking methods.

Thanks

The ranking proof and especially my bank account indeed confirm what you are saying. I cant believe, Im out....

The reason people build PBNs are:
  • relatively risk free because he link building is natural and has been done over many years, your "PBN" is just a site rammed with links.
  • low cost, because your domains already have the authority. You paid for the links meaning this didn't happen.
  • super high authority, niche relevant links. I don't know what kind of links you built but I doubt they were as solid as a good PBN domain would be.
I'm not saying your method doesn't work, buffer sites do 100% work... but they are not PBNs.

If you built a web 2.0 and then built links you would have got the same results with way less expense.

What you did isn't a PBN and I'm now worried noobs will go and copy it, waste their time, money and in 2-3 months get hit with a penalty which would have been avoided with a solid expired domain.

How many of these did you build? I'll give you 5 expired domains in your niche if you want so you can go and try expired domains.

Thanks
