I'd like to add all my PBN sites to ahrefs so they can be tracked and improved, but to verify them, I'd need to add the same DNS record or HTML tag to each site which is probably leaving a footprint. Does anyone know how to verify projects in ahrefs without exposing a PBN?

You don't need to verify the ownership btw, just skip it and hit the continue button. The difference is just the crawl speed limited to 1 request per 2 seconds. And you don't need to increase the crawl speed for your PBN since it's probably just a few pages on each site.

yes, but the problem is that you only get a limited amount of "projects" if you don't verify the domains: https://ahrefs.com/pricing

Is it not possible to verify with an uploaded HTML file any more? https://help.ahrefs.com/en/articles/3275938-verifying-ownership-of-your-project-or-website#html-file--
It shouldn't be a footprint as it isn't linked from anywhere.
yes, but you would be uploading the same file to every domain, so it wouldn't be hard for a crawler to connect the dots.
so it would be:

You can verify then remove the verification afterwards. It's not a permanent process.

You don't really need to link any of these PBN websites to ahrefs,
That won't help you out improving anything and most of the PBNs block ahrefs bot anyway,
You'll only need to check the PBN domains links using ahrefs and these links are crawled on their own

I'm not sure how a crawler would get to that file in the first place unless you're actively linking to it or submitting it.
