Fool Loses $150,000. in Nigerian Scam

When we were looking for a house to rent a year ago, I swear 1/2 the ads on CL were scams. Some TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE house for like $1000 a month...and a sob story...I've had to move to Africa, please rent my house BS.
I reported them time and time and time again and nothing stops them.
It is really sad when people fall for BS like this. But people want to believe it's true...I just wish that SOMEONE in that guys family would have told him NO!!!!!!!! IT'S A SCAM!!!!!!!!!

This is really sad...... Ok I know that the guy shouldn't have been that gullible but still... sad that someone would ruin someone's life like that. Screw those idiots that fooled that person. I hope this person manages to earn his and his friends' money back and get out of debt.

So many problems with that situation.
#1 If is sounds to good to be true...
#2 In for a penny in for a pound. At some point it's not greed anymore but like a gambling addiction. You keep throwing good money after bad hoping and praying that it all comes together somehow so you can at least break even.
#3 Who in their right mind would give $50 to a 22 year old let alone $150,000.
#4 He probably comes from a good family that love each other and would never seek to harm another soul. Unfortunately, those are often the most vulnerable people. He didn't deserve to be scammed that way.
I have just one question after reading that sad, heartbreaking story:
What's that guy's email address?

I'm sure no one here would stoop so low as to con someone outright. (Selling an eBook for $97 that is worth $10 is not a scam, it's just good marketing).
Ruining people's lives like this is certainly despicable, but I do have a secret admiration for Grifters who know how to pull off the long con. Their sales technique has to be the best in the world and when in direct contact with the mark, rather than by Internet and emails, they must have cajones of steel. The British TV series 'Hustle' and 'The Real Hustle' spring to mind.
I also imagine it must be a tremendous buzz scamming some low-life businessman who got his Billions from ruining other peoples lives, although this is not the case with the Nigerian scam, as they just send out millions of emails until somone bites.
The sad thing is, the people most likely to get caught in the scam are the people unfamiliar with the Internet, like the elderly or inexperienced.
...And of course, the very best scam in the world, apart from Government, is the one that scams millions of people out of just enough money so it isn't worth trying to get it back. The mark loses a couple of hundred dollars, is too embarrassed at their own stupidity to tell anyone or report it to law enforcement and so keeps quiet. Multiply that by several thousand people and now you have the perfect scam.
I think I have an idea...lol!

Whenever I put a for rent on CL, I get tons of, let me send a deposit stuff from these guys. Playing the % game, way scammy but working it hard. Better than sitting in the dust feeling sorry for your self. Still not nearly as good as lurking around BHW and cherry-picking the occasional juicy opportunity. They should put their energy & tenacity to more concrete endeavors. Just one reporter's opinion.
