foobar is a really short great domain name. would it be ok if the domain is .ai ?

it is software related

if you're asking from a SEO perspective then yes, .ai is OK and you'll rank just fine if you do the right SEO...

From other perspectives I'm not sure, you'll have to elaborate on what you're referring to :)

Foorbar.com is better in my opinion, which is probably why it’s more expensive. But you always have to weigh up what’s best against what’s affordable. You can’t run a business that isn’t efficient after all.

correction foobar.com is 2800$ on some company that sells domain. I think they can probably be lowered to 2500-2000.

I mean regardless if the bussiness will grow I think I will eventuall have to buy both domains to keep the brand name , but 2500 is too expensive :/

Plus, it's more general and can serve as the mother business like openai.com

can I ask another question ?

the domain is related to text . product related to text plagarism (products like duplichecker.com or quetext.com.

my options are :
foobar.ai - great domain name - I cant share since its available and I don't want anyone buying it)
foobar.com - around 3k$

what about the domain name "textmon.com" ? as short for textmonitor ?
I think its not that bad of a domain so I bought it .

do you think its a decent domain name ? or should I just get foobar.ai and wait till i have money then get foobar.com?

Textmon
You know what I'll go ahead and share the other domains since I own most of them :)

The domain names in question : (product is related to finding text plagarism)

1. copyfind.ai - I think its the best option ( I got the domain just now)
2. textmon.com - another available domain that I got which I agree with tylero is brandable (even tho im not sure how many ppl will understand what textmon means)
3. copyfind.com - 2700$ - owned by some domain name company

since I cant afford option 3 right now . which one is better ?
copyfind.ai or textmon.com?

thanks for all the help guys

textmon.com
Textmon looks okay because of it's uniqueness. copyfind.ai is best if you're only targeting Search engine traffic and don't want it to be a real business.

Sorry what do you mean by "don't want it to be a real business" ?
its supposed to by a sass application websites like the other websites.

I hope its ok with the forum guidelines i'll open a seperate post for the domain discussions .

both sound great to me, very cool and professional sounding. since the project is software related .io looks (at least to me) as professional and trustworthy as .com. I'd go with .io if that fits your budget better
