Following on Twitter from an Address Book

Does Twitter take into account how you're adding people when they factor whether or not you're suspicious/spamming? I have hundreds of contacts from my writing days. 700ish. If I try to add them all at once--from my address book--will I still get the ban? Or is it only random adds?

Try to add slightly less than 200 per day. These people need to follow you back at a pretty good rate or you get out of balance. The ideal status is 1:1 following:follower ratio.
