Following more than 2001 on Twitter

I've got several twitter accounts and have been maxing out the following the last week or so. Trouble is 5 of them have reached 2001 following and I can't follow any more. Each account has a different level of followers from 800 to 1700. Is time going to be a factor in allowing me to follow more people or will I need to unfollow people to get the numbers even again. the ratio for one account is 2001 to 1700 which seems to be legit but they limit it too. They also stopped one account at 800 followings. Each account got about 200 - 400 following per day
