follow nofollow confusion

I am yet to understand the follow nofollow thing.
Just saw the comment kahuna video and it says to ignore the nofollow thing and post into blogs.

This added to my confusion. Anybody care to clear up the things??

I think he meant to ignore it because perhaps a real person will follow your link (if your post is interesting enough.) The right people following your link can make a difference also so we don't always have to totally depend on the backlinks we get.

As an internet commentor for 1 year experience, nofollow link is give no value in seo, so we will ignore it. Probably we will focus on ******** link and get more backlink to our blogs. Hope this phrase may clear your mind up.

The way I understood it ... and maybe I'm wrong ... but I thought nofollow would not index the link in Google and not pass on pagerank, but Google would spider the link anyway

it all depends on where you are commenting. some places still do not have the nofollow tag so it would be useful there, but most of them these days have the nofollow enabled. if you post something relevant to the topic you may get a click from someone, but it wont help you with backlinks if nofollow is there. best bet is to just comment on places that do not have nofollow. there are a few left, but not too many so get it while they are still there

Yep. Don't loose your time to comment on sites with nofollow hoping some one will see and actually click your link . Just MPOV

The new CommentKahuna version now allows you to filter "nofollow" blogs. The video is also updated and does not say anything about disregarding "nofollow".

The main purpose in building backlinks is to increase the pagerank and raise the site up the SERPs, thereby getting more traffic. The "rel=nofollow" attribute on hyperlinks tells the search engine spiders not to pass pagerank to the linked url. Different search engines may implement this differently.
